Networking is the first step for effective and efficient collaboration. This can be applied through awareness campaigns, activities involving tourists and the resident community, training courses to make the workers self-employed and responsible, organizing events to create a solid network between local and national stakeholders, knowing how to listen to information that explicitly or implicitly participants give.
An example of a networking event that involved tourists, medium and small local businesses, local artists, owners of small local businesses in Italy:
A sustainable event: the No Borders Music Festival
The No Borders Music Festival is a unique music festival in the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region able to recall enthusiasts coming not only from Italy, but from all over Europe during the summer, between July and August. The area concerts can only be reached on foot or by bicycle (access to cars is not allowed), and develops in full respect of nature, to the rediscovery of flavors and magical places of the Friulian mountains. The guests are informed and made aware of “green” tourism (example: waste sorting) and complimentary information materials and / or environment-saving gadgets. In particular, it privileges:
- Sustainable mobility, promoting accessibility to the area of the consortium exclusively on foot or by bike
- The enhancement of sites of naturalistic interest
- The involvement of local operators (guides, points of refreshments, and local products)
- The reduction of the acoustic impact, with unplugged concerts
- The enhancement of the cultural heritage, through the implementation of activities related to The event such as for example workshops with local musicians and the involvement of the choir of the country.
