At the Directorate for Water and Investments in Slovenia, they formulate policies and carry out tasks in the areas of regulating and protecting water and making decisions about its use, investments and economic management, cohesion and reducing the consequences of natural disasters.
Water management plan in water areas
During the planning of water management, the Water and Investment Directorate examines in detail all activities that may adversely affect water during their operation. Based on the assessments carried out, the authority determines whether it is necessary to establish additional measures or stricter water protection regimes.
Water Act
This law regulates the management of the sea, inland and underground waters, as well as water and coastal lands.
Objectives of the Act
The goal of managing water and water and coastal land is to achieve a good state of water and other water-related ecosystems, to ensure protection against the harmful effects of water, to preserve and regulate water quantities and to promote sustainable water use, which enables different types of water use, taking into account long-term protection available water resources and their quality. The impacts of climate change are considered when defining water management goals and associated programs of measures.
Tasks of the state and local community
The management of water and water and coastal land is the responsibility of the state, except for those tasks for which the local community is responsible according to this law (Pisrs.si – Zakon o vodah (ZV-1), 2002).
